Luka Doncic | Basketball Shoes | Air Jordans
Luka Doncic hails from Ljubljana Slovenia yet he is quite happy to be living in the big “D”, Dallas, Texas. Doncic has emerged as an NBA superstar in less than two years of play. Doncic, while wearing Air Jordans, does it all on the court, from shooting to driving the lane, defending, rebounding and dishing the rock, the Slovenian is the NBA’s version of a renaissance man.
Doncic’s Rapid Rise to Fame
Doncic started out like a baller for Slovenia’s Union Olimpija and the youth academy of the Spanish Club, Real Madrid. By the age of 16, Doncic was hooping it up for the senior team. Two years later, Doncic starred in Madrid’s championship season, setting the stage for his transition to the NBA. The two-time ACB Best Young Player and Euro League Rising Star declared for the NBA draft in 2018. Doncic went on to be selected third by the Atlanta Hawks. Luka was traded to the Mavericks where he won the Rookie of the Year award and was selected as an NBA All-Rookie First Team. Doncic is thriving as a Maverick, playing against the world’s best including his childhood idol Lebron James.
Dissecting the Numbers: Doncic Could be a Future Hall of Famer
Take a look at Luka’s stats and you will be taken aback as to just how balanced his game is. Though Doncic has played only two seasons, his numbers are some of the best in the league. Averaging 32.2 minutes per game, Doncic is hitting 44.3% of his shots, nearly 33% from long distance and 74.% from behind the free-throw line. Luka’s rebounds have jumped from 7.8 per game to 9.7. Even his assists are up in his second season, jumping from 6.0 to 9.0.
In terms of points, Doncic is averaging 24 per game yet this figure will only continue to rise as his average points per game have increased from 21.2 to 29.1 in two seasons. Aside from a handful of the league’s superstars, few players have the same statistical balance across the board as Doncic. In other words, Doncic is a rotisserie fantasy basketball player’s dream. Though he has been going off fantasy basketball boards in the first half of the initial round, he might crack the top two or three in next season’s drafts. If Doncic continues his current statistical pace, he is a surefire lock for the hall of fame.
Doncic’s Kicks
Doncic credits some of his success to the quality of his sneakers, some of the sweetest Jordans to ever hit the market. Doncic rocks the Jordan Jumpman Diamonds and Air Jordans 34s. Doncic has also donned other Jordan kicks in his brief career. The Slovenian signed a multi-year agreement to be a Jordan Brand signature athlete, meaning he will wear Jordan sneakers for the foreseeable future. Luka’s Jordan Brand sneaker is the first-ever for a player hailing from Europe. The agile Jordans are visually striking yet highly functional, providing ample support and cushioning to help the likes of Doncic drive the lane without fear. It is quite interesting to note Doncic wore Nike Hyperdunk ’17 Low sneakers when balling in the EuroLeague.
Watch Luka’s game closely and you will see why his Air Jordans are so important. Luka does it all on the court, from powerful slam dunks to behind the back dishes, driving the lane to draw contact for foul shots, shooting the three and beyond, he takes on every challenge. Maybe one day, Luka will have a shoe with his own moniker (“the Doncic Kicks?”) under the Jordan brand. One thing is for certain: Luka Doncic is worth the price of admission.
